| José Christian Chávez Garza, born August 7, 1983, Mexican actor and singer, started his career participating in local tv commercials.
From 2002 to 2003 he played a role in the tv series Clase 406 (Class 406) and from 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the succesful Latin pop vocal group RBD, formed while filming episodes of the teen-oriented Mexican tv series Rebelde (Rebel) alongside Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Anahí, Christopher Uckermann and Alfonso Herrera, selling more than 12 million records, performing 350 shows around the world, including México, the U.S., Brazil and Spain, achieving diamond record status, triple platinum, double platinum and gold, worldwide. In March 2007, after Chávez's announcement of being gay and married to B.J. Murphy, he started getting strong support from friends and followers. However as of June 12, 2009, he confirmed divorcing his husband. After joining musicals and having performances on television shows, in early 2010 Chávez returned to pop music, this time as a solo artist, with "¿Y Dónde Estás?" (Where Are You), promotional single from his first album, called "Almas Transparentes". A career with good chances of a "crossover" since he is the leading voice behind the only one hit of RBD in the English-language market, the song "Tu Amor" (Your Love). |
